Soldiers bid farewell to military working dog, Sgt. Boris

FORT POLK, La. — A memorial service for military working dog Sgt. Boris, 50th Military Working Dog Detachment, 519th Military Police Battalion, took place Aug. 25 at Fort Polk’s Glory Chapel. Sgt. Boris, a patrol drug detector dog with an 11-year military career, unexpectedly passed away July 12. His duties consisted of demonstrations, law enforcement support and protection for the community and the surrounding areas of East Texas and Central Louisiana.

His loss was a surprise and shock to the detachment, said Maj. Peter Wetterauer, 519th MP Bn executive officer.
