Residents urged to place trash, recyclables correctly

13FORT POLK, La. —Fort Polk residents haveprobably noticed bright blue and green wastecollection containers popping up as if overnight,replacing the old brown dumpsters. The installa-tion’s new solid waste collection contractor,Waste Solutions, moved the new dumpsters intoplace for the Fort Polk community. The bluedumpsters are strictly for solid waste from FortPolk garrison and training activities, and do notallow for waste produced off the installation orin family housing.

Restricted items shall not be placed in thesedumpsters which include: Fluorescent lightbulbs, solvents, batteries, paints, tires, propanebottles, unused propellants, ammunition, ammu-nition residue, aerosol cans and medical waste.For information on how to properly dispose ofthese products call Net Zero Waste at 531-1105.
