Mother’s Day: Five lessons learned on motherhood

FORT POLK, La. — Being a mom has been one of the most exhausting, challenging, yet rewarding experiences of my life. Every day of motherhood comes with a lesson learned and story to tell, but here are five of the most important things I’ve discovered as my daughter nears her eighth month of life:

1. Make sure your moments with your kids are captured. As moms, it’s easy to get so caught up in taking pictures of our kids that we forget that it is equally important that we be in these photos with them. Being military spouses, it may be even harder to have candid moments with our children captured because our spouses aren’t always there to take pictures. But sometimes the lack of photos is also because we think we need to look perfect for these pictures to share them.
