Glenn joins Team Polk as Family Life Chaplain

By Chap. (Maj.) W. JERRON GLENN

FORT POLK, La. — Greetings! I’m Chaplain Jerrod Glenn, the new Family Life Chaplain at Fort Polk. It has been a while since Fort Polk has had a dedicated position for Family Life. FLCs are chosen for advance civilian schooling to essentially become “chaplain-therapists.” These chaplains have a unique blend of pastoral and therapy skills that provides highly specialized support for Soldiers with extreme PTSD and couples/families/individuals experiencing crisis.

Although crisis therapy is a large part of what I do, I also offer preventive care. FLCs can provide counseling for relationship enhancement, premarital care, decision-making and overall strengthening of life skills. As the FLC, I will also be leading various family programs, such as Marriage 101 and Strong Bonds. Marriage 101 is a program for engaged couples. Most couples in a committed relationship I come in contact with have had virtually no education about healthy communication skills or conflict management.
