FORT POLK, La. –– If you are unhappy with the test results of your Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery or Armed Forces Classification Test but can’t spend time in a classroom, there is a way to improve your general technical score.

Soldiers have access to an online alternative to the classroom-based Functional Academic Skills Training Basic Skills Education Program Improvement class called Peterson’s Online Academic Skills Course.

Peterson’s OASC uses a pre-test to measure students’ skill level, strengths and weaknesses to create customized lessons to advance students in reading, vocabulary and math skills.

These core areas combine to produce the original GT score on the ASVAB and AFCT.

Peterson’s OASC is available free to Soldiers who have taken the Test of Adult Basic Education in the past year.

TABE exams are offered weekly at the Fort Polk Education Center.

Once the TABE exam is taken, Soldiers can obtain a Peterson’s OASC enrollment form for the commander’s signature.

For more information visit an education counselor in the Library and Education Center, bldg 660, 7460 Colorado Ave. or call the center at 531-5575/1535.
