Single Soldiers far from home can have a hard time adjusting to a new post. If you are bored, lonely or your spirits need a pick-me-up, you are in luck.

Fort Polk’s Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers is here to support you. Let loose with some recreational, energizing activities or build your character with the support of Military Family Life Consultants. The following BOSS programs are available:

Family life briefing

BOSS and the Family life consultants are joining to help Soldiers. Whether building resilience or learning to stay positive and motivated, BOSS wants to help. Free briefings are held on the second Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m. at Bayou Theater. The next meeting’s topic is “Anger Management” held June 13. Commanders are encouraged to bring their units to the seminars.

Paintball

Get ready to charge the field and dodge “bullets.” BOSS hosts a day filled with paintball guns at range 23A Saturday at noon. The cost is $32 per person and includes gear rental, field fee, air and 1,000 paintballs. Lunch is not provided, but Soldiers are welcome to pack a lunch.

Roc Haus

Put your rock climbing shoes on because BOSS is going to Rok Haus in Lafayette, July 14 to go rock climbing. This indoor facility features rock walls for everyone at all levels of rock climbing. From beginner to expert, Rock Haus has what you are looking for. The cost is $15 per Soldier and includes: Transportation, field fee, belay harness, belay instruction and climbing shoes. Soldiers will leave Warrior Community Center at 9 a.m. and return later the same evening. For more information call (337) 378-3236.
