Theater buffs, take heart. Fans of murder, mayhem and a healthy dose of slapstick comedy? Your desires are about to be appeased as the 2011 Impromptu Players present “Murder on the Rerun” by Fred Carmichael.

The play begins with Jane, an Oscar-winning screen writer, who is dead at the bottom of the stairs in a Vermont ski lodge.

Her four friends and husband say she fell. "I was pushed!" she says as her ghost rises.

Aided by Kitty, a rather wanton adviser from "up there," Jane is brought ahead to the present, three years after the murder, where the same group is gathered. The five suspects join to keep the possible murder quiet for reasons of their own but their relationship busts apart with their mutual distrust.

Woven through the suspense in humorous, acidic and revealing comedy is an extraordinary whodunit with a surprise ending when the murderer is revealed.

The dates for performances are today and Saturday at the Wooten Theater in DeRidder.

The dinner performance is Saturday and costs $20 for adults and $15 for students. Today’s ticket prices are $10 for adults and $8 for students.

Performances begin at 7 p.m. and include a travel raffle.

Purchase a $5 raffle ticket for your chance to win two $500 travel vouchers redeemable through the First Class Travel Agency.
