Once known as the “richest 50 acres in the world,” the discovery of sulfur put present-day Sulphur on the map in the late 1800s. Bring the whole Family out to celebrate its history at the ninth annual Sulphur Heritage Days, today and Saturday. While you’re at the festival, enjoy arts and crafts booths, great music, food vendors and carnival rides.

Break out your chef’s hat and enter the grill-off, where all proceeds benefit the Brimstone Historical Society. Or if you’re not a cook, for a small fee, you can sample all of the different entries until the food runs out. The festival begins today from 5-10 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

For more information on the festival call (337) 527-4505.
